Sheet glass is commonly supplied in a number different glass types. The different glass types do require different methods of mounting. However all types of glass can be mounted with Micromaster Hinges.

Laminated glass using two sheets of float/annealed glass bonded by a plastic or resin interlayer. Float glass cannot be mounted with screw fixings of any type such as countersunk fittings or clamping plates. The only mounting method permissible for laminated float glass is by bonding the panel to a special attachment plate. (See Applications) Another mounting option is to bond the panel into a channel extrusion or profile and attach the relevant mechanism to the metal profile. (See Custom Solutions).

Laminated glass using two sheets of toughened/tempered glass bonded by a plastic or resin interlayer. Toughened/tempered glass can be mounted with countersunk fittings, clamping plates as well as bonded fittings. Toughened/tempered glass is up to five times stronger than float/annealed glass of the same thickness.

Single panel Toughened/tempered glass can be mounted with countersunk fittings, clamping plates as well as bonded fittings. Toughened/tempered glass is up to five times stronger than float/annealed glass of the same thickness.

Single panel float/annealed glass is generally not considered to be suitable for use with Micromaster Hinges.
